Konosuke Takeshita has had American audiences buzzing over the success of his recent excursion to AEW. The DDT Pro standout was in Newcastle last night, where he appeared on PROGRESS’ Wrestling’s “Deadly Viper Tour” show. Following the show, Takeshita spoke with Fraser Porter of Cultaholic.com.

On his love for cinnamon rolls: “Best thing about it…I tried to eat Cinnabon first time in America four months ago. I was surprised – it was like, ‘oh my God!’ Then every day, I eat Cinnabon, every day. every day. So I guess I became a fat ab [laughs] but no problem. I did more workouts and now it’s a good body, so no problem. I love Cinnabon!”
On his AEW excursion: “It was my excursion. Before I came to the US, it was not decided on matches for AEW, or PWG, or Prestige…then, my first matches for AEW Dark: Elevation, my entrance theme hit – no reaction. Audience – no reaction. So then I say, ‘Ok, I want to become a superstar!’ I tried to do my best. Now, for my last match for AEW Dark Elevation, big reactions! [roars like cheering] I was so happy.”
On wrestling in the UK: “It was such a good experience. I came to the UK last time in 2019 before the COVID pandemic. At that time, it was for Chris Brooks’ Schaudenfreude show – it was so fun! I always wanted to come to the UK. Now, I’m glad to come back to the UK. I hope so [to come back to Progress].”
