Since bursting on to the American scene, Konosuke Takeshita has been a consistent highlight of AEW programming. But for how much longer can fans expect to see the young up-and-comer?
During today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shed some light on the current working relationship between AEW and Takeshita’s home promotion, DDT. According to the report, Takeshita will be on excursion here in the United States for about a year. He is currently living here, as well. Meltzer noted that even if the young prodigy does return to Japan, there is an understanding that AEW can bring him back whenever they’d like. Specific details of Takeshita’s deal with DDT are unknown, but the promotion and AEW have a “good relationship.”
There have been whispers that if AEW doesn’t do something with Takeshita soon, a rival promotion could snap him up and make him a star. It is no secret that WWE have been looking for a Japanese wrestler with some size, and Takeshita fits the mold perfectly.
