Kurt Angle Wishes He Had ‘One More Round’ with John Cena

Plenty of fans wanted to see Kurt Angle face off against John Cena in his final WWE match at WrestleMania. The former Olympic gold medalist hung up his wrestling boots for good after suffering a loss to Baron Corbin from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Many fans would have rather seen Angle share the ring with Cena. There would’ve been some poetic nature to Angle’s final match, as Cena was defeated by Angle in his main roster debut back in 2002 on an episode of SmackDown. Instead, Angle faced off against Corbin, who he had been feuding with several months before on Monday Night RAW. Shortly after his retirement defeat, Angle took to Instagram and posted a photo of himself and Cena at WrestleMania.

Angle noted that he’d love to have had “one more round” with “The Leader Of The Cenation” inside the ring before retiring:

Completely ironic that on the same night, at Wrestlemania35 @johncena paid homage to his “ruthless aggression” thuganomics character, and I wore my “Team Angle” warm up. I wish I had one more round with you John. Regardless, I’m proud of my career.
