Pro-wrestling veteran Larry Zbyszko has said he is to credit for giving the name ‘New World Order’ to the legendary faction.

The nWo got started in WCW in 1996 and ushered in an era of cool heels which is still felt in wrestling today.

Speaking during a recent autograph signing, Zbyszko spoke about the nWo name:

“I actually named the New World Order, not officially, but I was using it and stuff, and Eric heard the New World Order and it got in his mind and he decided, ‘This is the name for the thing.”

‘The Living Legend’ also claimed to be behind much of the “programming” when it came to the early nWo, including the debut of Scott Hall.

Zbyszko, a former wrestler turned commentator was one of the early “WCW guys” to begin to feud with the faction, culminating in a match with Eric Bischoff at Starrcade 1997.
