More information has come out about what plans AEW had that were canceled due to Hurricane Ian.

Prior to this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan assured talent and staff that anyone who would have struggled to make it to the show due to the hurricane could miss it.

Khan’s decision resulted in Swerve Strickland and Ring of Honor Television Champion Samoa Joe not making it to Dynamite.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan was for Joe to team with AEW TNT Champion Wardlow to face Strickland and Keith Lee.

Instead of a match, Keith Lee appeared in a backstage segment with new AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed.

It is unclear if AEW plan on hosting this match at a later date.

WWE has also been dealing with the hurricane, closing their Performance Center, and there are fears that talent could miss SmackDown.
