A new report has some additional details surrounding CM Punk’s meeting with Tony Khan this afternoon, as well as some notes on Ace Steel’s future with AEW moving forward.
As reported earlier on eWn, numerous suspensions were doled out in the wake of the actions following the All Out media scrum. Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, backstage coaches Christopher Daniels, Pat Buck, and talent Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa have all been suspended for their physical altercation backstage following Sunday’s event. While CM Punk and Ace Steel were not initially listed, it was reported that both men would either be suspended or let go by day’s end.
According to DAZN reporter Steven Muehlhausen, his sources noted that Punk met with Tony Khan on Tuesday and their conversation was “constructive.” It isn’t clear yet what that means, but the report goes on to say that Steel has been suspended, and this is a sign that he won’t be fired. This is not to say that he won’t be fired for his actions, only that this is the perception among the sources within AEW. There are said to be “a lot of moving parts” surrounding these events, particularly since neutral parties have yet to speak with people investigating the situation.
As also reported on eWn, Tony Khan will address the status of the AEW World Championship and the Trios Championship on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Sources: Keep getting asked about CM Punk. Here's what I know: Tony Khan met w/Punk in Chicago on Tuesday. The talk "was constructive". What that means who knows but Steel being suspended is being seen as a sign he won't be fired. He still could be. Lot of moving parts still.
