WWE’s upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia this weekend (Fri., November 2, 2018) is an extremely controversial one. Following the murder of Saudi Journalist Jamal Khashoggi almost a month ago, many have urged WWE to pull out of the event. However, WWE will apparently push forward with the show.
TMZ Sports recently caught up with Linda McMahon, currently working for the United States Small Business Administration under the Donald Trump administration, and wife of Vince McMahon. In regards to WWE’s decision to move forward with Crown Jewel, Linda said she has nothing to do with it:
“If you wanna talk WWE, you’re talking to the wrong McMahon,” she said. “I don’t run it and I’m not responsible for it … ya gotta talk to Vince.”
Linda McMahon removed herself as a WWE executive back in 2009 when she decided to pursue a political career. As far as Crown Jewel goes, it’s clear not all in WWE agree with the company’s decision to go forward with the show. Superstars such as John Cena and Daniel Bryan have withdrawn from their scheduled matches in Saudi Arabia.
