Following her controversial win over Ronda Rousey at WWE SummerSlam 2022, some fans in the crowd began booing SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan. The controversy came when Morgan tapped out before the referee counted a pinfall on Rousey. During an appearance on “Gorilla Position,” Morgan spoke about the mixed fan reaction she received on SmackDown and whether it surprised her.
“No, it didn’t surprise me. I kind of weirdly anticipated it. But, at the same time, it kind of made me feel like I had a little bit of an edge because at the end of the day, the referee’s decision is final and I’m still SmackDown Women’s Champion.”
Morgan successfully defended her title against Shayna Baszler this past weekend at Clash at the Castle. Unlike in her match with Rousey, Morgan picked up a clean, decisive win over the Queen of Spades.
