During Saturday night’s WWE SummerSlam 2022 pay-per-view event, Liv Morgan defeated Ronda Rousey to retain her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship, but it didn’t come without some controversy.
While Ronda Rousey was in control for the majority of the match and locked in an armbar, Morgan moved her into a pinfall for the three count. The issue was that while Rousey’s shoulders were down, the replay showed that Morgan tapped out before the three count was made. That means she technically should have lost the match and title.
Following the bout, an irate Rousey attacked both Liv Morgan and referee Dan Engler, putting them both in armbar submissions.
Morgan’s reign as SmackDown Women’s Champion stands at 28 days.
