The first ever Rocks Off Pro Wrestling Film Festival began last night at the Kraine Theater in New York City, bringing in a sellout crowd for the opening night events, including several short films and the Colt Cabana & Friends Sit In A Theater & Watch Bad Wrestling show. Cabana was joined by comedian Chris Gethard (who signed a deal for a Comedy Central pilot the day before) and Mike Lawrence.

Those in attendance included Matt Striker, WWE Encyclopedia co-author Brian Shields and Headlocked author Michael Kingston. There were a few members of the WWE staff there as well.

Those who bought Iron Man VIP tickets were given a free Film Festival poster. Everyone else got free popcorn, drinks, a one week complimentary pass to Neon Alley (which plays CHIKARA online) and a free pair of “Chew Bubblegum & Kick Ass” emblazoned sunglasses.

The festival has been mentioned in Time Out New York, The New York Times, AintItCoolNews.com and several NYC-centric publications, websites and blogs.
