— EMLL announced a new concept called En Busca de un Idolo, which is similar to last year’s Forjano un Idolo. This special competition features eight luchadores competing in lightning matches at Arena Mexico on both Tuesdays and Fridays, starting on April 27. The winners get points from victories and points from categories judged by a chosen panel: character, charisma, personality and fan response. The fans will get to vote online at enbuscadeunidolo.com. The matches will air on Cadena Tres and on a special web show each Wednesday.
The competitors in the tournament will be Diamante, Dragon Lee, Titan, Triton, Euforia, Niebla Roja, Polvora, & Puma King. The tecnicos will be coached by Atlantis & Franco Columbo and the rudos will be coached by Ultimo Guerrero & Tony Salazar. The tournament is expected to last a couple of months.
— At the press conference announcing the tournament, a big dustup happened between Fuerza TRT (Damian el Terrible, Rey Bucanero & Tiger) and the CMLL Trios champions La Tercia Sensacion (Marco Corleone, Maximo & Rush). Terrible and Rush were especially going after each other, and a match was set up for the Dia de los Ninos show on April 29 at Arena Mexico.
— Halloween claimed that the situation between him and Los Perros del Mal in AAA was that he was just fulfilling his dates at first, but he has settled all matters with the Perros and he is back with them for good. He is currently working out his dates with Familia de Tijuana.
— Rey Misterio Sr. is resigning from his position on the Baja California Box y Lucha Commission. He will become a promoter exclusively.
