Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser has disputed claims that Vince McMahon wanted to bury reigning Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER.
GUNTHER was called up to WWE’s main roster earlier this year, and captured the Intercontinental Championship in June from Ricochet.
It had been noted earlier this year that prior to his retirement, McMahon wanted to ‘bury’ the Austrian following what McMahon saw as a disappointing segment with R-Truth on RAW.
While speaking to WAZ, Kaiser was asked about the claims, and said that GUNTHER has had a great time on WWE’s main roster.
“I don’t know anything about the rumors. It’s also usually the case that we don’t let it get to us like that. From our side, we have been totally satisfied since we started on Smackdown. We’ve had a great reception there, the feedback has been positive right from the start. We can’t complain about our TV time either.
“When you look at what we’ve done in a few months, even with Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship title, it speaks for itself. Of course, there are always rumors here and there.”
GUNTHER recently received a slight name change, with WWE’s website now capitalizing his name, similar to his previous moniker WALTER.
