Mace was close to wrestling Brock Lesnar in 2019, the former WWE Superstar and Maximum Male Model member has recently revealed.

During the November 4, 2019, episode of RAW, Mace, who was a commentator at the time, was attacked by Lesnar after standing up for Brock who was intimidating Jerry Lawler.

During a recent Reddit AMA with r/squaredcircle, Mace recalled being informed of plans for a match with Lesnar that ultimately never went ahead. He said,

“So when it happened they told me I’d just be back on commentary next week. Then they told me (as I was boarding a plane to the UK) that I would be selling it for a week. Then another. Then another. Then they said they were going in a new direction with the commentary team.

“As I understand it, a match was discussed, but Vince said it would be confusing to the audience because they didn’t know I wrestled. I was later told they changed directions because I was too big for commentary so I eagerly awaited my big push.”

Mace, alongside Mansoor, was released from WWE in September of this year. The pair will be free of their 90-day non-compete clauses on December 20.
