According to reports, WWE is currently negotiating with rapper Snoop Dogg for an induction into year’s celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2016. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross confirmed the rumor in a blog post earlier this week. Also, Regis Philbin was originally planned for the spot but the company decided to change their plans and go with the rapper instead. Sasha Banks, the real-life cousin of Snoop Dogg, may have had something to do with the change,
In addition to Snoop Dogg and Regis Philbin, former Good Morning America host Joan Lunden is expected to be the recipient of this year’s “Warrior Award”. While The Ultimate Warrior noted prior to his passing that he wanted the award to be given to people who work backstage for WWE for little notice and pay, WWE has decided between last year’s recipient Connor Michalek and their plans going forward to give the award to those who meant a lot to charitable causes. Lunden was very public about her battle with breast cancer in 2014 and has become an advocate for the fight against the disease. Of course, WWE supports the disease every October. Dana Warrior, the widow of The Ultimate Warrior, is also said to be on board with Joan Lunden receiving the award this year.
