Mustafa Ali made his return to WWE television on Monday’s episode of RAW.
As seen during the show, Ali came out and interrupted a “Miz TV” segment featuring The Miz and Theory. Following the segment, Ciampa came out and blindsided Mustafa as he headed up the rampway.
According to a report from Fightful, there were multiple WWE executives and members of the roster who were excited to see Ali return.
As far as when the plans came together for Ali to make his return are concerned, WWE’s creative team came up with several ideas last week. As of Sunday afternoon, the original plans called for Ali to lose to The Miz. Despite that change, everything else played out as planned.
Additionally, Ali was scheduled to be at RAW for a meeting with John Laurinaitis and hadn’t been informed of the creative plans prior to that.
And finally, Ali was said to have been “more than comfortable” with addressing his absence from WWE and requesting his release back in January.
Ali’s current WWE contract is set to expire in mid-2024. With his recent absence, WWE has the contractual ability to freeze his contract. As of this writing, they haven’t done so.
