Here is the latest on Roman Reigns’ suspension from WWE for his first violation of the WWE Wellness Policy.

According to sources, WWE knew ahead of the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view that Roman Reigns had failed a drug test. With that being said, the company knew full well that Reigns was going to be suspended for thirty days prior to announcing that the Battleground pay-per-view would feature a triple threat main event featuring Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose.

As of Tuesday, there are thirty-three days until the WWE Battleground pay-per-view event, meaning that Reigns will be off suspension at that point and could still compete in the World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The question is – did they delay the announcement for a week or so, so that Reigns could still participate at Battleground? It sure seems that way but there is no way of proving that as only WWE knows when the exact date of the wellness violation took place. Numerous sources are reporting that it took place “at least several days” before it was “officially” announced on Tuesday.

Of course, Reigns will miss the WWE Draft on July 19th. The company had the option to run some sort of suspension angle on RAW on Monday night to write him off of television for the time being but chose not to do so for reasons you can only speculate on (AKA – they wanted him at Battleground). Reigns will miss all episodes of RAW and SmackDown before Battleground due to the suspension.

Considering that the company announced the Battleground match after they knew about the violation, it appears as if the main event of the pay-per-view will go forward as planned.

As you’d imagine, there are some people “rolling their eyes” at the suspension and booking, with some saying that Roman is Vince McMahon’s “teachers pet” and it sets a double standard for some of the lower & mid-card talents. One source said, “If it was anyone else besides Cena and maybe Seth, do you think it would have gone down like that?.”
