According to sources, the lawyers for former WWE Superstar CM Punk are “more than ready and willing” to go to trial in the event that the lawsuit filed by WWE doctor Chris Amann doesn’t end with a settlement. We reported earlier this week here on eWrestlingNews.com that the case, which was set to begin on Monday, was delayed due to negotiations regarding a possible settlement. Despite CM Punk being the one who is most at-risk for a potential jury verdict against him, his attorneys have been pushing for the case to go to trial.

For those unaware, WWE doctor Chris Amann sued CM Punk and Colt Cabana for defamation in regard to some comments Punk made on Cabana’s “The Art of Wrestling” podcast back in November of 2014.

According to someone who is very close to CM Punk’s legal defense, they “have worked long and hard on building a case for trial. Anything is possible but the defense is ready and prepared for a jury trial.” If CM Punk were to win the case, it would be a huge moral victory and would force Amann to pay CM Punk and Colt Cabana’s legal fees. If CM Punk were to lose the case, he would be on the hook for whatever the judgment is against him and he’d also have to pay Amann’s legal fees.

Doctor Chris Amann is seeking $1 million in damages and it is believed that WWE is paying for Amann’s legal costs.
