The Tampa, Florida city government will be holding meetings later this week to discuss the fate of several “major events” in their city due to coronavirus. Of course, one of those upcoming events is WrestleMania 36, an event where people from all over the world come to attend.
According to Ryan Bass of CBS Tampa, Mayor Jane Castor and city officials are scheduled to hold a meeting this Thursday to discuss the possibility of canceling or postponing “major” events in the city.
WWE issued a statement last week that stated they “remain committed to hosting WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, April 5, and like other entertainment properties in the U.S., there are currently no plans to cancel or postpone our upcoming events.” It’s not up to WWE though as the city of Tampa, FL will make the final call and if they postpone or cancel “major events” like WrestleMania 36, WWE would be forced to comply. Obviously, things are touch and go at this point but as you’d imagine, there are many people within WWE who are extremely worried about what will happen at Thursday’s meeting.
.@CityofTampa and @JaneCastor will meet on Thursday to discuss canceling or postponing "major" events due to #Coronavirus. This weekend's River O'Green fest isn't likely to be canceled.
