UPDATE x 3: As you know by now, Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of Monday night’s WWE RAW TV tapings in Norfolk, Virginia in what has been described as a real-life situation and not a work by any means.

According to a report from Fightful, the people that were originally set to be involved in the match have confirmed that the bout was put together in such a way that Naomi would not have interacted with Sasha Banks at all. Additionally, Doudrop would not have come into contact with Nikki A.S.H.

The original finish of the match called for Naomi to pin Nikki A.S.H.

According to sources, the two unnamed women referenced in WWE’s official statement (see below) were Becky Lynch and Asuka.

With that being said, Banks and Naomi didn’t specifically say they didn’t want to work with Lynch or Asuka. While WWE’s official statement is implying that, it’s simply not the case and they are trying to spin things to fit their narrative.

The report notes that Banks and Naomi were pushing to work with Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.

Additionally, nobody had heard that Banks and Naomi considered anyone “unsafe” until WWE released their statement. Obviously, they wanted it out there as they’ve posted it on WWE.com and Twitter. That is clearly a sign that Vince McMahon is not happy with how things went down backstage at RAW.

Finally, WWE issued the statement to the entire roster via the internal talent relations app prior to it being published online.

Vince McMahon reportedly shot down Sasha Banks’ pitch of having a Nikki A.S.H. & Doudrop vs. Sasha Banks & Naomi match at Hell in the Cell. Instead, there was a pitch to have them interfere in the originally planned Naomi vs. Bianca Belair match at the PPV. That idea was rejected.

Banks and Naomi’s issues are said to be largely related to the direction of their tag team and the women’s tag team division in general. The two women reportedly have no issues with anyone in the division. It’s simply about the creative direction that WWE has planned for them moving forward.

It remains to be seen where things go from here but Vince McMahon wasn’t happy with the way things quickly escalated backstage at RAW.

Whether cooler heads prevail or if they both are released from the company remains to be seen.

UPDATE x 2: WWE has issued an official statement on Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out of Monday night’s RAW TV tapings in Norfolk, VA.

The statement reads as follows,

“When Sasha Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena this afternoon, they were informed of their participation in the main event of tonight’s Monday Night Raw. During the broadcast, they walked into WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis’ office with their suitcases in hand, placed their tag team championship belts on his desk and walked out.

They claimed they weren’t respected enough as tag team champions. And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents – even though they’d had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence.

Monday Night Raw is a scripted live TV show, whose characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract. We regret we were unable to deliver, as advertised, tonight’s main event.”

It’s worth noting that multiple sources have confirmed this is not a work by any means. It remains to be seen where things go from here.

UPDATE: In an update on our earlier report regarding Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out of RAW after Banks had an issue with the creative plans, it is now being reported that the original plan was for Naomi to win the Six-Pack Challenge that was planned to main event the show. This would have resulted in her facing off against Bianca Belair for the RAW Women’s Championship at the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event.

As of this writing, there is no word on exactly what Banks had a problem with. While Sasha demanded a meeting with Vince McMahon and received one, both refused to back down on their stance.

This led to Banks storming out of the meeting and leaving the building. Naomi wound up going with her. For those unaware, both Sasha Banks and Naomi are very good friends in real-life and often travel to shows together.

ORIGINAL: According to a report from Pwinsider, the main event of tonight’s episode of RAW was changed at the last minute after Sasha Banks and Naomi legitimately walked out of the TV tapings.

The word making the rounds backstage at RAW is that Sasha Banks wasn’t happy with the creative direction for the original main event, which would have seen a RAW Six Pack Challenge to determine Bianca Belair’s next challenger at the WWE Hell in A Cell pay-per-view event.

According to sources, Banks demanded a meeting with Vince McMahon and the belief is that McMahon refused to change the direction of the match. Additionally, Banks refused to budge from her demands and left the TV tapings.

When Banks made the decision to leave, Naomi also exited the arena in Norfolk, Virginia with her. They both left in the same rental car. It’s worth noting that both women were booked for the original main event.

Just prior to RAW going live, WWE shot several backstage segments with Adam Pearce and Becky Lynch, which lead to Asuka vs. Lynch main eventing the show. In one of the segments, Lynch referenced Naomi and Banks leaving the arena.
