WWE Superstar Becky Lynch narrowly missed out on being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the scene she was in was deemed “too depressing.”
In May 2020, it was announced that Lynch was set to appear in a Marvel film but has yet to make her presence felt in any superhero blockbuster just yet.
Fightful Select reports that Lynch was cast for a role in 2021’s Eternals in a post-credit scene, which would have set up a future film.
One person who knew about the situation noted that the post-credits scene was cut for being “too depressing,” although no further context was given.
While Lynch did not appear in Eternals, the former RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion teased being in a Marvel film to ComicBook.com earlier this year.
“Maybe there could be something in the future. Maybe, maybe… we don’t tell secrets around here. We don’t tell Marvel secrets around here.”
Sources at Marvel said they had no problems with Lynch’s performance in the nixed scene.
With an underwhelming box office and mixed response by fans and critics, it is unclear whether Eternals will get a sequel.
