Earlier this week, former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Matt Cardona appeared on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast.
During the show, Cardona opened up on his incredible 2022, wanting to return to WWE, his infamous GCW World Championship match with Nick Gage, and more.
The former Intercontinental Champion also shared his thoughts on his friend Cody Rhodes’ torn pectoral injury and the universally acclaimed Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins earlier this year.
“He had to do that match. Was it the smartest for his health? Maybe not, but it was such an iconic moment. And it really showed that he had the balls and passion for pro wrestling. I think he gained a lot of people’s respect if he didn’t have it already,” said Cardona.
Matt Cardona is expected to team up with Brian Myers to challenge the Motor City Machine Guns for the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships at Hard To Kill on January 13, 2023. He has also been teasing a potential Royal Rumble return and may be headed back to WWE soon.
Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes is also expected to make his highly anticipated return at the 2023 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. He is among the favorites to win the men’s Rumble match.
