Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder) was one of the hottest mid-card acts for a brief period in WWE. His rivalry with then U.S. champion Dolph Ziggler helped propel him to championship status, and he soon became a fan favorite on Monday Night RAW. After winning the United States Championship at TLC 2011, many thought Cardona was off to have a solid mid-card run in the company, but unfortunately, things didn’t turn out that way.

During a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Cardona spoke about the possibility of wrestling in WWE again, specifically at WrestleMania. While he acknowledges that there’s a chance of that happening, for Cardona, it’s more of an option than a goal. Check out what he had to say below:

“I’d be lying if I said I never wanted to wrestle in Madison Square Garden again or never wanted to wrestle in a big stadium for a WrestleMania,” he said. “Of course I would. I’m not saying that. But I’m also not saying that I’m doing everything I’m doing now thinking, ‘What can I do to get back to WWE?’ or ‘What can I do to go to AEW?’ I don’t give a sh*t. Sorry, I don’t. If Tony Khan or Vince McMahon or Johnny Ace or Bruce Prichard called me, of course, I’d pick up the phone and have a conversation, but that’s not my goal right now.”

Cardona also discussed whether he still had a relationship with Vince McMahon. He revealed that he sent a picture of himself holding several title belts to his former boss, to which McMahon replied with “wow” in all caps.
