AEW’s Matt Hardy believes it is a matter of time before The Rock faces Roman Reigns in a match that’ll appeal to casual wrestling fans more than a ‘diehard’ audience.
The Rock and Reigns have both teased facing off one day with The Rock stating last month that the match was once a ‘lock’ for WrestleMania 39.
Addressing the possibility of a match during a recent edition of his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Hardy said,
“It’s a huge match. It’s huge, and I think it would lead to a very successful WrestleMania.
“I do [think it will happen.] I feel like now that Rocky has been speaking about it and saying it was almost greenlit for last year, and now they might do it this year… I feel like if he’s even mentioning it in any capacity, that it’s in his mind to do. Yeah, I do think it will happen, and I do think it will be a huge draw. I don’t think the diehard wrestling fans will get the match that they want, but it’s going to be a huge spectacle, one that will have casual fans extremely interested in, and they’re gonna wanna tune in and watch it.”
The Rock appeared during the September 15, 2023, episode of WWE SmackDown but his cousin was not on the show.
