AEW World Tag Team Champion Max Caster has opened up about his experiences at a WWE tryout and the “world-class” athletes who couldn’t handle it.

Caster signed a five-year contract with AEW in November 2020 alongside Anthony Bowens and the pair are in their first reign as tag champions.

During his appearance on The AJ Awesome Show, Caster talked about trying out for WWE before making it to AEW. He said,

“I did a tryout at WWE and we had world-class athletes. I’m a professional wrestler. I played high school football, but nothing in college, no pros and we had professional athletes in there and they couldn’t handle the first day. People walked out. So it’s a tough sport.

“It’s a hard sport but it’s very rewarding because it’s one of the only sports where you can look around and take time and see all the people and feel what they’re feeling.”

During the show, Caster also spoke about scissoring, saying the gesture is to fans today “what ‘Suck it’ was back in the 90s and 2000s.”

Caster wouldn’t be signed to a WWE contract but appeared on the May 22, 2018 episode of WWE RAW as one of Bobby Lashley’s ‘sisters.’
