Michael Cole Allegedly Referenced AEW Situation During SmackDown

The fallout from AEW All Out 2022 has sent ripples across the wrestling industry, and may have splashed on the shores of the WWE Universe in the form of Michael Cole and his commentary.

Speaking to Corey Graves on last night’s episode of WWE SmackDown, the duo were going back and forth about Adam Pearce and Ronda Rousey. The segment featured Pearce talking trash to Rousey, who then attacked him. This is part of a larger storyline that has been playing out between the two on SmackDown in recent weeks surrounding Rousey’s kayfabe “suspension.”

In reference to the skirmish between Scrap Daddy and The Baddest Woman on the Planet, Cole said that Rousey “had been disciplined internally, the results of which will not be made public.”

Cole went on to say, “Sources told me WWE official Adam Pierce has gotten carried away, he’s aired the dirty laundry publicly, hence the reason this investigation has been taken behind the scenes.”

If this reference was a shot at AEW, Michael Cole would join Natalya as the latest in a list of WWE talent to have taken a shot at their rival promotion, with The Queen of Harts taking aim earlier today on Twitter.
