In recent months, SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has emerged as WWE’s hottest star. It all kicked off after she turned heel at SummerSlam against Charlotte Flair. Initially, Lynch was supposed to face RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series this weekend.

However, Lynch was punched in the face by Nia Jax during a RAW brawl and had her nose broken. She has been medically suspended from competing at the event and will instead be replaced by Charlotte Flair. Lynch has been calling herself “The Man” on WWE TV as of late. She has impressed the likes of WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley.

Foley spoke to the “Not Sam Wrestling” podcast recently, comparing Lynch’s “The Man” moniker to that of Stone Cold Steve Austin’s “3:16″ innovation:

“To me, it’s like an Austin 3:16 moment, but Becky Lynch is #TheMan,” Foley said. “She came up with the catchphrase. She didn’t use the hashtag, but I told her that she has to use it everywhere she goes, you are now ‘The Man.'”

Foley also said that he has no problem with Lynch calling herself “The Man,” and doesn’t think anyone else does either:

“It throws gender on its head, and women will be more than happy to say that Becky Lynch is The Man. I think men will gladly say that she is The Man,” Foley said. “It is a bigger statement. It somehow makes perfect sense. I am on board. I believe wholeheartedly that she is The Man.”
