WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has seen the funny side of Vince McMahon’s return to WWE, calling his time away the second-shortest retirement in the company’s history.

McMahon retired in July 2022 over allegations of misconduct with female employees, but returned to the promotion earlier this month,

Speaking on Foley is Pod, the Hardcore Legend poked fun at his own early 2000 retirement, saying McMahon’s is the “second-shortest retirement.”

Foley also speculated on McMahon’s reasons for returning, theorizing that Vince couldn’t deal with being gone. He said,

“His life and his family revolved around the business. So that was one of my concerns [when Vince initially left]. ‘What is he going to do? What is he going to do [to fill his time]?’ I can’t imagine him not being there behind in that Gorilla Position. It would seem like something was amiss if he wasn’t there behind it.”

Foley retired in February 2000 after losing a Hell in a Cell match to Triple H but would headline WrestleMania 2000 mere weeks later.
