Mickie James takes on Jordynne Grace for the Impact Knockouts Championship tomorrow night at the Hard To Kill pay-per-view event in a match with a risky stipulation – if she loses, she retires.

James, however, isn’t planning on a loss. In fact, she’s already looking ahead to an opponent after Grace.

During a recent appearance on the Battleground podcast, James named Masha Slamovich as her next target.

James said,

Well, I would say that there is one woman I haven’t faced and I think that I’ve watched her grow. I’ve beaten Deonna not once, not twice, but three times on this Last Rodeo. I don’t wanna look past Hard To Kill, but I hope I see everyone on the Fallout [show] on the 14th. But yeah, that match is to determine the number one contender so I’m gonna have to keep an eye on that because I’m going on the mindset that I’m going to win but I got a chance to face Taylor Wilde. I will say, I love this version of Taylor and I don’t think that it’s a character as much as it is a lifestyle. The Taylor Wilde that we all loved, she’s grown up since then and has evolved and this is her new life and love. I dig it because it’s so different. But again, I beat Taylor Wilde but I think Masha… and I know Killer Kelly I’ve never faced, she’s recently come in. She’s awesome, she would be awesome. But I think I have more of an emotional connection to Masha in the sense that I saw her when we were building Empower and I saw her there and I thought she was so awesome and different. I saw what she did there and I thought she was the real star of the night that night to the point where [I used] her as my Pick Your Poison against Deonna for the Knockouts Knockdown and then her getting a offered a contract that night and then her coming in and making a hell of an impact on the division and being undefeated and unstoppable. She and I are two completely different types of wrestlers and athletes but I think again, I wanna challenge myself no matter what. I think that if I had to pick one winner, that would be the match that I think would be something challenging for me as a new champion coming out of the gate and she’s somebody on the roster I haven’t faced yet and she’s a badass.
