In what was a very surprising turn of events, Impact Wrestling’s current Knockouts World Champion Mickie James has been announced for the WWE Women’s Royal Rumble match.
Not only have Impact Wrestling hyped the announcement, but James herself has now also commented on her return to WWE.
Posting on her Instagram account, Mickie James said the following:
“Y’all talk about doors like you’re doing big things…
B*tch I raise the BAR and kick out the ceiling!!! Because that’s what legends do. 🤠💋 Yes you heard right! After Tomorrow #HardToKill I’m taking myself, my boots, and my @impactwrestling#knockoutsworldchampionship all the way to @wwe #RoyalRumble
Final Destination #Wrestlemania”
Mickie James was a five-time Women’s Champion and one-time Divas Champion during her two runs with the company. She was however released by WWE for the second time in April of 2021. Following that, she publicly announced that her leftover belongings had been sent to her in a trash bag. This caused an outpouring of support on social media and James received an apology from WWE’s CBO Stephanie McMahon, as well as the person responsible for the incident being removed from their position.
Also announced for the women’s Royal Rumble match is James’ former rival, Michelle McCool. McCool would post the following statement on her Instagram after she was announced as a participant in the match:
