To add to what has been an eventful week thus far for AEW, the number one contender to the world title, MJF, posted a picture on his Twitter page with radio host, and WWE broadcaster Peter Rosenberg. MJF wrote in the caption, “Me with one of the best wrestling broadcast journalists in the world @Rosenbergradio #2024”
The “2024” hashtag refers to the year that MJF’s contract will be up with AEW and he expects to start a bidding war between AEW and WWE. MJF has been linked to WWE for some time, especially when reports came out that he was displeased with his contract in AEW; feeling underpaid compared to ex-WWE wrestlers. Further speculation of MJF jumping ship continued last night on AEW Dynamite. In his promo, MJF said he would win the AEW World Championship and use it as a bargaining chip when he goes to WWE to join his best friend Cody Rhodes and work with the only true Khan in wrestling, “Good Ole Saint Nick,” Nick Khan.
MJF is not planned to be a part of the AEW World Championship tournament. The chip he won from the Casino Royale Ladder Match at All Out affords him a title shot whenever he chooses.
