As we reported yesterday here on eWn, Bill Goldberg is expected to appear at this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event and will be facing Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Goldberg is expected to make his return on Monday’s RAW and will officially issue the challenge to Lashley.
While WWE originally wanted to have Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley headline SummerSlam, the feeling is that Lesnar isn’t willing to come back to work multiple shows right now, so they’d have to have Lashley win. Several people also feel that a future Roman Reigns vs. Lesnar program, with Paul Heyman in the middle, would be weakened by Lesnar taking a loss at SummerSlam.
