More details have been released over the departure of Cody and Brandi Rhodes from All Elite Wrestling earlier today.

The couple, who were part of AEW from its first days, have confirmed that they have left the company, after a statement from AEW President Tony Khan made their decision to leave public.

According to a report from Fightful, neither were backstage in Atlantic City, New Jersey for last week’s AEW Dynamite TV tapings, which led to talk behind the scenes about their statuses with the company.

Although many within AEW believed it to be a work and part of Cody’s constantly-teased heel turn, everyone later realized it was very real and is not a work by any means.

While Cody tried to downplay the situation in recent weeks, saying he was simply negotiating a new deal with AEW as recently as last weekend, his departure is seen as a huge loss to several production employees, since Cody often “went to bat for them.”

Addressing what this means for “Rhodes to the Top”, the reality series about Cody and Brandi, the reports that a second season would be coming were never confirmed. Additionally, no filming for the show has taken place recently.

AEW is hopeful that other wrestlers will be featured on reality shows on WarnerMedia networks, with Darby Allin being filmed for something as of late.

Cody Rhodes leaves AEW a three-time TNT Champion and an Executive Vice President (EVP), while his wife leaves after a tenure as Chief Brand Officer (CBO). Brandi will be replaced by Amanda Huber in her role, while The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega will continue their roles as EVPs.
