Yesterday, Stardom capped off the year with a show that surpassed the mark of 3,000 spectators, a record for the top joshi promotion founded in 2010 and with alumni such as Io Shirai, Kairi Sane (Kairi Hojo), Bea Priestley (Blair Davenport) and Toni Storm.
NJPW English language commentator Chris Charlton revealed that Stardom’s total attendance for 2021 is 47,405 spectators, a record for yearly attendance despite the pandemic era that still forces Japanese venues to run shows at a reduced capacity.
Charlton also noted that Stardom is third overall in total attendance in Japan, only behind fellow BUSHIROAD owned NJPW and Dragon Gate (the latter by a short margin) and ahead of important companies like All Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Noah and DDT.
Congrats to Stardom breaking the 3000 mark in Ryogoku.
Total attendance for the year put them at number three nationwide, male and female, just behind dragon gate. (NJPW several times ahead in first)
What’s impressive is 47405 is an all time best, during the pandemic. https://t.co/nFxJIECeGT— chris charlton (@reasonjp) December 30, 2021
