As previously reported here on eWn, the Los Angeles Times wanted to write a story about AEW Dynamite when the show was in Los Angeles, CA several weeks ago. However, there was some miscommunication, with AEW never getting back to them.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it seems the entire ordeal was a big misunderstanding.

Houston Mitchell, the assistant sports editor for the LA Times, emailed Mandy O’Donnell, who handles PR for AEW, about writing a piece on the Young Bucks returning to Southern California.

Mitchell contacted them six weeks before that week’s Dynamite and then again two weeks after that, but he never heard back and no story was written. O’Donnell maintains that they “triple checked” for his emails but never found them.

O’Donnell said that they never got any messages from him and would have worked with him on the story. AEW did respond to a different writer for the LA Times, who didn’t work there full-time, and the paper turned down that writer’s idea. With Mitchell’s standing with the paper, his story would have run.

Mitchell and O’Donnell contacted each other last week and worked things out. It is likely that the story will run the next time AEW is in the area.
