As was reported here on eWn over the weekend, AEW have announced a working partnership with DDT-Pro Wrestling.
Additionally, it was stated on the latest episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that AEW’s deal with DDT-Pro also includes TJPW (Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling). It was also noted that Kenny Omega played a part in securing the partnership, due to his healthy relationship with DDT-Pro.
Omega was full of excitement for the deal on his Twitter page, writing the following:
“DDT, (which includes me), has been the best kept secret in wrestling for over a decade. It only took 2 of us together to change the entire wrestling landscape from 2010- now. The next generation is looking to leave an impact. Be ready.”

Regarded as the spiritual fifth pillar of DDT-Pro Wrestling, Jun Akiyama has been the dream opponent of AEW star Eddie Kingston for some time now. As news broke of AEW’s partnership with DDT-Pro, Kingston re-tweeted the announcement with the caption, “You already know . You know what fight I dream of.”
Kingston would then confirm it was in fact Akiyama he was referring to.

In a 2021 interview with Joseph Anthony Montecillo of FanByte, Eddie Kingston stated that a match with Jun Akiyama would be the, “highlight of my career.” He said,
“I would chop him [Akiyama], smack him, hit him, suplex him just like he would to me. And we would fight and it would be great because I just like fighting in that ring. I know I would learn something from him in the King’s Road style. It would be the highlight of my career.”
