More On Malakai Black & Others Reportedly Being Contacted By WWE

As we reported earlier today here on eWn, Malakai Black requested his release from All Elite Wrestling, citing his mental health and his unhappiness with the booking of his character. All indications are that Black would prefer to return to WWE under the new regime. Black received a conditional release, but the exact details surrounding his release are unknown.

It was reported that WWE sent “feelers” out to several contracted AEW talents. Fightful Select has confirmed that Black was one of the names who was contacted by WWE. The other AEW talents who were sent “feelers” include FTR, Swerve Strickland, and an unknown home-grown AEW star. The “feelers” that were sent out to the unknown home-grown star reportedly took place back in August.

Despite WWE’s attempt to pry AEW talent away, reports suggest that members of AEW management were of the mindset, “if they want to go, let them”. As of this writing, it is unknown if the talent are interested in a return to WWE.

FTR reportedly have “a while” left on their AEW contracts. Additionally, Swerve Strickland said in a podcast interview last month that he was not interested in returning to WWE despite the fact that Hit Row has returned to the company.
