More details have emerged on the releases of Dakota Kai and Malcolm Bivens from WWE NXT 2.0.

Kai and Bivens were two of the ten names released on Friday as part of the ongoing budget cuts in WWE.

Fightful Select reports that WWE had ‘tentative’ plans for Bivens on the main roster and even pitched him as a possible manager for Omos.

LA Knight was also pitched for the role before it was given to MVP instead.

Bivens had “made it clear” that he had no plans to re-sign with the company, even after he signed a short-term contract extension last year.

The Diamond Mine mouthpiece re-signed in 2021 after being promised a role with the stable and his most recent contract was set to expire in early 2023.

He was recently offered a new, restructured contract and passed on it.

Kai’s contract was set to expire in April 2023, and she had received several tryouts for the main roster.

According to sources, there was “no solid direction, plan, or firm ideas” for her. She had also made it clear that she wasn’t planning on sticking around when her contract expired.
