UPDATE: Although some fans were speculating online that Zelina Vega was released due to a tweet regarding her supporting unionization, POST Wrestling reports that Vega’s release was known about before she went live with her tweet.
eWrestlingNews.com has also learned that she refused to stop streaming and requested her release after a meeting with Vince McMahon and others. That release was obviously granted. She feels she can make more money by continuing to stream and also testing the free agent world with AEW, Impact Wrestling, ROH, NJPW, AAA, and others out there.
Vega has taken to her Instagram, simply saying, “See you on Twitch!”
ORIGINAL: WWE.com posted the following, revealing that Zelina Vega has been released.
“WWE has come to terms on the release of Zelina Vega. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
It’s worth noting that Vega had continued to stream in recent weeks and was said to have been very upset over WWE’s new third-party edict on banning their talent from using streaming sites such as Twitch, Cameo, and other platforms.
Just prior to WWE’s official announcement that she had been released, Vega tweeted that she supports unionization.
I support unionization.
