Naomi Discusses Her Chemistry With Sasha Banks, The Evolution Of WWE NXT

During a recent interview with Pwinsider, WWE Superstar Naomi commented on her chemistry with Sasha Banks in the ring, the evolution of WWE NXT, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the interview below:

On how getting a storyline changes the approach to matches and how they’re received: “It changes everything because I had never experienced that yet through my career, being able to be involved in a storyline that long. By the time you get to that point, it’s so easy at that point because people are so invested and now it’s just time to act it out. The hard work is laying the groundwork in the story and just making it last and stick, which I’ve never experienced all these years until this story with Sonya came along. And I feel like I was able to peel back some layers and show just for my character to go through something. We haven’t really seen the glow have any opposition.”

On establishing her chemistry with Sasha Banks: “It’s just been fun and it’s easy. We’ve worked together before in the past, so it’s just been refreshing to be back together again at this point in our careers, me definitely being a lot more sure of myself and coming into my character that I think is my shtick. And her just being at this level of success that she is now, it’s a completely different dynamic and it’s just easy, it’s just natural.”

On the evolution of NXT: “For me, I think it’s rewarding to see where the division, where it was when I started, to see where it is now. And definitely feeling like I’ve been a part of that, I know that I’m here for a reason. I think it gives me a lot of purpose. I know that I’m doing something right along this journey because I’ve seen the change and I’ve been a part of the change, and it’s just really inspiring to see the women that are coming in now, they’re getting better and better. And that motivates me. That inspires me and I hope it continues. And I hope when I’m gone, I’ve left the vision in a better situation than what it started out.”

On if she misses Total Divas: “I miss it so much. What’s crazy at the time because we’re just moving so fast, we’re traveling, we’re on the road, we’re working, we’re filming, you’re not really thinking about your life is being filmed and so many people are watching it. Now when the younger, the newer generation of this new era is coming, they were like, “Yeah, I used to watch you on Total Divas. And you made me want to do this.” And I’m like, “What? That is insane.” So you definitely don’t realize the impact when it’s happening, but I’m so glad I was a part of it. I wish we still had it. I think it definitely changed how the world and people just in general view women and wrestling.”
