NBCUniversal has put an end to new sign-ups for its free tier of service on Peacock.
THR reports that Peacock is no longer allowing users to sign up for their free tier. The updated sign-up page offers new signees the $4.99 monthly ad-supported plan and the $9.99 monthly ad-free plan.
Existing users of the free tier will continue to enjoy access to the free content. A representative for NBCUniversal declared the change was carried out to give effect to Peacock’s focus on its premium plans and the onboarding of new original programming in 2023.
Peacock hit 20 million paid subscribers this year and is the home for several NBCUniversal originals such as Natasha Lyonne’s Poker Face, the new slasher film Sick, and more.
Peacock is also home to the WWE Network in the United States. The platform is the streaming destination for many of Universal’s theatrical films such as Tar, Violent Night, Ticket to Paradise, Nope, and She Said.
