Many fans were stunned to see Cody Rhodes wrestle at WWE Hell in a Cell with an injured pectoral muscle. While there have been questions regarding WWE’s decision to let Rhodes wrestle the match, reports have since confirmed that Rhodes insisted on competing that night. Now, WWE may’ve been lenient on allowing Rhodes to wrestle the entire match.

According to Fightful, since Rhodes’ pectoral was torn off the bone, it couldn’t have been damaged any further. This ultimately allowed WWE to let Rhodes decide on whether he should compete that night or not. The report also stated that if Rhodes had chosen not to compete, WWE wouldn’t have forced him to. Talent backstage praised Rhodes for his efforts after the match.

Rhodes is said to be out of action for at least nine months after successful pectoral surgery this past Thursday. WWE reportedly shot an interview with Rhodes and is preparing to use the content for a future documentary.

If Rhodes is out for nine months, that puts his return date near WrestleMania next year. Rhodes has stated he wants to become WWE Champion, so perhaps he’ll get the chance at the grandest stage of them all.
