During a recent edition of AdFreeShows’ Monday Mailbag, former WWE and WCW referee Nick Patrick remembered WCW wasting the potential of The Undertaker and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in the 1990s.
The Undertaker and Austin eventually left WCW and signed with WWE to forge legendary careers in Vince McMahon’s company.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
Nick Patrick on former WCW booker Ole Anderson not seeing anything in The Undertaker: “The Undertaker and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, both of those two just couldn’t seem to, to catch a break. Ole Anderson said, he was the booker at the time, he said, ‘People just aren’t ever going to pay money to see [Undertaker] wrestle.’
On knowing Steve Austin had it early on: “Oh, yeah. It was just a matter of time, you know, and I thought he was going to get it there. But, they never really, they never really got to show like he did up north. It was meant to be.”
