According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there’s a push by many people to get NJPW WrestleKingdom 12 on traditional PPV in the US. Chris Jericho and agent Barry Bloom are working on a deal. Many people in the company believe that being on New Japan World is good enough and that one of the keys to signing Jericho is the hope he will make a difference in increasing subscribers, who normally wouldn’t purchase the service for the show.
However, it is likely that more people would order the event if it was on PPV than will buy New Japan World, especially with the difficulty many have to sign up for New Japan World. WrestleKingdom 9, which was promoted in the US by Jeff Jarrett, did 14,000 buys, which was almost as many as the current number of New Japan World subscribers outside of Japan, and which was considered a huge success. Although that was a weekend show and WrestleKingdom 12 will run from about 2:15 AM to 8 AM on a late Wednesday night and Thursday morning, which isn’t a great PPV timeslot.
