Fightful Select has shared an update on former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito.
As we previously reported here on eWn, New Japan Pro Wrestling recently announced Naito’s departure from the promotion following the expiration of his contract. Since then, he has been working in NJPW as a free agent.
According to sources within NJPW, there’s still a possibility that Naito could make occasional appearances for the company in the future, though those would likely depend on financial terms.
Additionally, those familiar with Naito’s plans believe he may explore opportunities with Pro Wrestling NOAH.
As for a potential move to AEW, it’s been noted that it would be a “surprise” if the company offered him anything beyond occasional appearances that align with their existing plans.
