As seen at Saturday’s WWE NXT Takeover: WarGames in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center on the WWE Network, Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Drew McIntyre to win the NXT Title.
Dave Meltzer reported on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio that original plans called for Adam Cole to challenge McIntyre for the NXT Title. However, once the decision to bring back WarGames was made, WWE changed plans and went with Almas the challenger instead. It’s possible that Cole will be Almas’ next opponent for the NXT Title if McIntyre needs surgery for a torn bicep.
