As previously reported, WWE commentator Pat McAfee is joining ESPN’s “College GameDay” as a full-time member of the show, which airs live on Saturday mornings every week during college football season.
McAfee will be in Austin, Texas this Saturday, where “College GameDay” is airing for the Texas vs. Alabama game.
Although the New York Post initially reported that McAfee will remain with WWE, McAfee said on his show on Wednesday that WWE felt it was better for him to just focus on the ESPN opportunity even though he wanted to do both.
This new role will see his commentating career on SmackDown put on hold. He will continue with his daily Pat McAfee Show.
SmackDAHN will be on hold for a little bit while I do College GameDay.. I'm still VERY much in the WWE family & will still be doing things with WWE#PMSLive pic.twitter.com/bhSpOYg3wW

.@PatMcAfeeShow approached us about his amazing opportunity with College GameDay. We’d never stand in Pat’s way, as he continues to architect his exceptional career.
Pat will remain a member of the @WWE Universe and we look forward to his return. #UpToSomethingSZN
