Possible Reason Why Jerry McDevitt Left WWE-MLW Lawsuit

As we previously reported here on eWn, Jerry McDevitt will no longer represent WWE in their legal tussle with MLW, as lawyers from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Warton & Garrison LLP are taking over.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that there is more than meets the eye” regarding WWE switching law firms for the MLW lawsuit.

McDevitt has reportedly been slowing down” in recent years and is nearing retirement. WWE believed the MLW lawsuit would “go away” after McDevitt registered arguments to get the case dismissed, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

In addition, the law firm WWE is using now to handle the MLW lawsuit is the same one that Vince McMahon used for the merger talks with Endeavor.

Meltzer said, “So there’s more than meets the eye. You don’t replace an entire firm unless there’s something going on and obviously, Vince McMahon was not happy with that aspect of the case not going away.”

McDevitt, 73, has worked with WWE for over 36 years since the infamous steroid trial in 1993. His work with WWE at the time is what cemented him with McMahon and the company.

Since then, McDevitt has represented WWE in a variety of cases with tremendous success.
