Could we see a brand-new match type at this year’s Royal Rumble? It’s being discussed, according to a report from WrestlingNews.co.
Last week, the site was told that the entire card for the 2023 Royal Rumble has been mapped out. Tonight’s episode of RAW will begin the build to that show, which could include a “Pitch Black” match, which is being seriously considered for the premium live event.
Nothing is known about the structure or rules for the “Pitch Black” match at this point, but one source within WWE believes that the match is being reserved for Bray Wyatt. Wyatt and LA Knight have gotten physical on recent episodes of SmackDown. Bray insists he had nothing to do with the attack Knight suffered on this past episode. This does leave the door open for more characters to be introduced. The source went on to say that WWE are being careful not to overexpose Bray in-ring because they want everything he does “to feel special.”
Royal Rumble 2023 will take place Saturday, January 28th at 8pm EST from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. It will air live on Peacock in the United States and on the WWE Network elsewhere in the world.
