As many of you may recall, the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble was marred by a backstage incident between Shane McMahon and his father Vince McMahon.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Shane was expected to have a major role in the build to WrestleMania 38. Instead, those plans were nixed and he was “quietly released” from the company.

Shane McMahon was originally meant to enter the men’s Royal Rumble match at #29, while Randy Orton would enter at #28. This decision was eventually reversed.

During a recent interview with BT Sport Digital, Riddle and Orton commented on the situation.

Riddle said, “I know when you were supposed to enter and then somebody….”

Orton would later add, “Right, Shane McMahon got axed after that because of the whole….sorry Shane, love you, man.”
