Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, and Nikki Cross were all pulled from the WWE Clash of Champions event and WWE claimed that the reason for this was due to them not being medically cleared.
As a result, this caused the women’s tag team title match to be pulled in addition to Cross being replaced by Asuka to face SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. The women do not have COVID but simply came into contact with people who did.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there has been a policy with WWE for decades to continue advertising a match despite the company knowing it won’t be happening as scheduled.
Meltzer wrote, “I’ve had discussions over it and the excuses are preposterous, largely that ‘why should we be punished when we didn’t make the mistakes’ and ‘we have them under contract so why can’t we advertise them.'”
